Need costume help: "Rock Star" - by Friday

Found out today that ds has to go to school dressed as a "rock star" - this Friday. So I have 3 days (when I'm working) to sort out a costume. Any ideas anyone?

My five year old doesn't know what a rock star is either, and I'm GLAD. He knows about Peter Rabbit and Aladdin and Flat Stanley and Oliver Cromwell and Henry VIII and Charlie Bucket though. I don't WANT him to be into pop music culture at five. It's rubbish.

Dd asked me the other day what a pop star is Aloha.

I tried to persuade her to dress up as a character from Aladdin for book week as I have 30 sets of chinese pjyamas from our christmas play!

SHe wasn't impressed (doesn't like Disney it scares her)

Aloha · 27/02/2007 00:02

Ah but we know the BOOK Aladdin [big fat smug emoticon ) He does watch Disney, btw, I'm not that reactionary.

julienetmum · 27/02/2007 00:22

Think dd is a bit young to appreciate Scherezade (sp) yet.

At least she has chosen a proper book character and it could be worse, one of her favourite books is The Gruffalo.

julienetmum · 27/02/2007 00:24

Though I note your ds is 5 too, dd is very scaredy cat i terms of books, films etc, except oddly enough when she is the one acting.

Aloha · 27/02/2007 11:00

Ah well, my ds would be too scared to act!
He is obsessed with writing 'really scary stories' at the moment (they are largely incomprehensible and involve bad witches) and makes me read them while saying 'are you really, really scared mummy? Is it too scary to read?'.

exbury · 27/02/2007 13:05

LOL at the Gruffalo - that was one of the ones I was dreading. How are Maisy and Thomas coming along? best bet for green trousers might be really cheap leggings and Dylon?

Apparently DS's best friend is threatening to have a Narnia-themed party and DS has told him he will go as... a beaver.

Oh boy is he going to get talked/forced out of that one!!

I was wondering about this too. My Reception aged son has to dress as a Rock Star and I don’t even think this age group does the Rock Star Times Tables.

He has Nirvana and Ramones t shirts so I will either go for grunge rock with the Nirvana t shirt with long sleeve white t under and a check shirt and jeans or the Ramones t and skinny jeans - no leather jacket to channel the Ramones though.

Sorry, just noticed how old this thread is 😂

DarkDarkNight, at this age what the rock star is suppose to look depend on parents! I would let my ds dress in black tight leather trousers and long jet black straight hair and a guitar. Grin

I hope the OP is still around, her DS must be approaching sixth form by now Grin
