Applying for a place. I'm a virgin in this territory & am embarrassed at asking this...

Think I'm over-thinking this Blush

Please can someone tell me when I have to submit my application? Is the place for a Foundation year?

DD will turn 5 close to Christmas in 2019. Am I right in thinking I go through my council website & have to have it in by January 2019 (so about 11 months before she turns 5)?

I daren't ask my friends, I'm so new to this I'm embarrassed.

It's an academy if that makes a difference.

Thankyou for helping me and my divviness.

Are you in England? If so then yes, you apply the winter before the September of admissions, and your child will turn 5 a couple of months after starting reception.

The other date for applications to be aware of is for school nursery if you want to do that.

It depends on the council (check their website) but in our council, you apply the january before the academic year they start nursery (which is the term after they turn 3). So for your daughter it would be this January (!) even though she won't start nursery until the following January. Other councils have later application dates, and of course there are other nursery options.

Thankyou. She starts pre-school in a few weeks. They start at age 2. Whilst it's on school land, it's in. No way connected to the primary school.

If it reassures you the Pre-School will probably give you info about it at the right time to think about applying. Plus you may see a couple of posters go up. Don't rely on it happening - but if you pop a reminder in your calendar to speak to the Pre-School closer to the time then at least you will know if they will give you an information pack or you will have to go hunting through the council website for one.

That makes sense Smile Thankyou!
