UK Primary School Finishing Time In The 70s?

I have done loads of research spent more than 5 minutes on Google before giving up and cannot find out how the finishing time of primary schools has changed over the years.

My OH and I are arguing about it.

I'm sure I used (in the 1970s and possibly early 80s) to finish at 16:30 ish, and they changed it to 15:30 at some point.

Or did I dream it?

4pm in the early 70s for primary and 4.14 for secondary. Also an hour and a half for lunch.

I was at primary school from 76 until 82. The first school infants finished at 3.30 and juniors at 4. Then we moved and infants finished at 3.15 and juniors at 3.45. Then somewhere around 1980 it changed so we all.finished at 3.30. Both schools started at 9.

4 pm early 70's then it changed to earlier with a shorter lunch break. I remember looking round and being incredulous that it would take 2 hours to eat lunch.

I can't remember the end time when I was very little but I do remember lunch time was long enough for me to walk home, eat lunch, maybe watch a couple of Tv programmes and walk back for a bit of playtime in the early 1970s in infants.
The last primary I went to finished at 3.40 I think, because I remember when I went to secondary they had a staggered end and only sixth formers went at 3.40, which I thought was a bit odd!

I remember it as 4:10.

I'm pretty sure primary was 3:30, and secondary was 3:50 (1969-1983). I think times were staggered a bit in our area, so that busses could get to each school so the kids weren't hanging about too long at the bus stop, or something!!

I'm thinking the actual teaching hours in the week have probably not changed but cutting down the lunch break mean kids are getting home earlier.
I have a feeling that our P1-3 had an hour and half for lunch, older kids just an hour. But that facilitated two sittings in the dinner hall and allowed kids to go home for lunch. Now few if any kids go home for lunch.
