Does anyone else's nearly in reception DC still sleep in the day?

She doesn't need to sleep every day, but generally does benefit from an hour upstairs quietly.

She generally sleeps from about 7pm to 6.30am otherwise

She is only going for an afternoon rest a couple of times a week now but she is generally vile by about 5.30pm. I'm a bit worried how that will compound after about a week at school...

Anyone else? Or words of wisdom?

More than a bit jealous of everyone who's DC napped for years! Mine stopped entirely by 19months...

She went into reception last year at just 4 (late August birthday) and was vile and exhausted in the Oct-Dec stretch and promptly ill the second oct half term/christmas holidays/feb half term and easter started. It does take it out of them, but the teachers know that.

Dd used to take herself off to the playhouse/book corner for a nap in preschool and reception if she was feeling a bit overwhelmed/stressed. I remember the reception teacher saying she seemed a bit tired. I told her dd had nearly 12 hours sleep at night and she was fine with that. I think she'd thought I'd been putting her to bed too late but was fine once i explained she just did it to give herself some time out. I remember the preschool teacher showing me a photo of her having a nap. She was only there til 12 or 1.
