Hello all

So DD1 is starting school in September- yay! - and I am just wondering how many of clothes items she might need to get through the week.

Does she need 2 pairs of shoes and some kind of outfit for each day, eg 3 dresses and 2 skirts to make up 5 days?

Our DS has just finished reception he had:-

1 pair of school shoes (bought half a size bigger and they last all year - from clarks)
1 pair of trainers for outdoor pe (they do indoor pe in bare feet so no plimsolls needed)
1 pair of wellies kept at school for weekly forest school.

Reception teacher here:

Depends on the child. Only one pair of shoes required whatever the child, until they trash them, or grow out of them.
As for jumpers and the like, depends if you've got a messy kid or not. :)
A fairly tidy child should manage with 2 of everything... A messy one will probably need 3+. ;)

DD outgrew the shoes bought in August by half-term. That was £5 a week.
The next year her feet hadn't had a spurt for a while, so I sent her back in doodles (relaxed uniform at her school) and waited until half-term to buy proper shoes - otherwise the same would have happened!

I would wait until you get your place as all schools have different rules etc

At our school, they don't change for PE in reception, so it would be waste to buy PE kit!

Definitely we needed more uniform in reception than we do now we're in Y1 though.
