they get to bring books home (gin) levels
and ds is really enjoying reading and hes learning pretty quick, and they get a remarks book so we can right in it and the teacher. well since 16th jan put put in jack would like a new book as he knew all the words and understood the story! since then he not been given new book or even a remark saying he read at school.

he came home last night saying hes not getting pulled out to read to teacher, where is friend is every day, so we put a remark in last night saying how upset he is about all this. are we wrong to ask? it feel like she not giving him books because we asked! but if a child wants to learn surly they should be letting him have book to bring home its not like were not doing it with him.

Hi there, can you talk to the teacher about this? I would try to ask before/after school or if they're too busy at these times ask for an apointment (doesn't need to be long).

Even at our school, where the teachers are very helpful and approachable, these things can happen due to the sheer number of children in the class.

I agree with Giuliettatoday - make an appointment with the teacher. Ask her how frequently they are heard to read/change books and then bring it to her attention that DS hasn't been heard to read.
Good luck

Agree, a friendly face to face chat with the teacher about your concerns would be helpful.

makes your blood boil doesn't it...this is exactly what happened with our DS now 6..he was pretty much left to his own devices because he was such a "good "boy and "we wish all the children were like him". We talked to the school, they apologised but then it pretty much stayed the same...in the end we made the decision to sell the house, get rid of the mortgage by moving to a different area so that we caould send him to what has turned out to be a fantastic private prep school. His reading has improved dramtically, he reads every day to his teacher because of the small class size and we back that up with reading every night too....I can't tell you what a difference it has made to him. Every day that I walk into his school I just think that what he has should be available for EVERY child and that is how it should be - small class size, individual attention and lots of choice. I hope you manage to resolve this for your DS too......

Talk to the teacher after school one day - afterwards is less manic than before school when they're trying to get all the children in and settled - ask if you can have a chat, and tell them your concerns.

thanks all! ive made appointment with his teacher which is next wed! but tonight got a remark saying ds recognised the words at ramdon when asked out of book, ans sent two books home.

i think they did it this way to see if he did now them, so they could have said some thing to us, but we know ds can recognise the words, sounds like they didnt believe us

Sorry I have had more or less the same problem with my dd she did'nt bring a new book since Nov despite all the letters home saying they will be doing this and that, can I ask as I am new to all this and trying to make sense of it all what is (gin) levels???

My dd father already saw her teacher earlier in the week with a terrible response, so we are waiting for the head teacher to call us.
