DS1 (7) came home after trampolining one Fri without his glasses. We waiting til the monday then went into school to look for them.
For PE & games they change in the classroom and he knows to put them in his bag or tray. But for after school trampolining they get changed in the corridor and things are a bit chaotic.
Thinking they'd turn up, I didn't rush to order another pair, but we had his old ones just in case.
Anyway school weren't very helpful at all (lots of 'tutting' from the office, shrugging from teacher, "have you looked in the lost property box?" (yes...))
Anyway, mid week DS accidently breaks his spare glasses and was suddenly without any.
We have another eye hospital appointment next week, so we were just going to wait (expecting that he will need a new prescription anyway), but
over the weekend DS1 suddenly started getting double vision.
So - we asked the school if we could put an urgent note via the mail system asking people to check their kids' bags/ if anyone had seen his glasses.
They said NO ! After some discussion, they said that if we wrote a note, they would put it on the noticeboard at the side of the school (the one nobody looks at.... ).
As a result we spent all day yesterday, kept DS off school and had to do the rounds of GP/ hospital/ optician to get him some emergency glasses .
I know the school can't be responsible for every child's lost property, but I was shocked by how unhelpful they seemed, even when I explained why it was so important....?
