Can someone explain the SATS scores for KS1 and KS2, please?

I mean the exam scores. I get that 100 is the expected level, but what will that mean - what proportion are working at that level, and what will results above and below it translate into? Is 100 the average level (so 50% below and above) or does it mean the kids hitting Nicky Morgan's targets?

we have no real idea yet, the government hasn't set an "above average " score nor, as far as I am aware, do the scaled scores yet have a percentile score attached. so your guess is as good as mine ( although a mathematician might be able to give likely percentage boundaries!!)

Thank you wise ones! I'll give them till Friday and thanks to this I may even know what they mean

When should we get the ks1 results then please?

Again, schools have until the end of this term to report the teacher assessments to you.

I think there's too many unknowns for that to be possible, spaniel. An experienced yr 6 teacher could probably make a better guess than a mathematician based on their knowledge of the children and their scores. Other than that, you'd probably need the complete data set for each test.

Just wanted to thank you all for the really clear advice. They finally came ( in the post , so I don't even have to tell him rightGrin ). Much better than expected. If I am allowed a ray of sunshine on these threads it has reassured me that he won't be out of place in his quite academic secondary school. The problem with a not so good primary and teacher assessments is that you don't really have much idea where they are in the grand scheme of things.

Onwards to secondary where I suspect none of this will matter much Grin
