Key stage 1 scaling

We been given Dd's key stage 1 sats results today and she has done well according to her teacher. I know that 100 is the expected standard, but what is the average score for her age group on these stupidly hard tests?

Sorry I've got mixed up!
The ones we are reporting are 'working towards, at, deepening, exceeding'. So different from the interim framework. I think I need a word with SLT.

What does a child need to score to be considered exceeding?

There isn't one, just expected.

I was wondering similar what makes one child expected say for maths and another exceeding.

Many teachers have complained the new curriculum us unachievable. It would be interesting to know what percentage of children nationally reach the required standards in both reading and maths. If lots of children are getting scores above 110 then there is no justification for saying the curriculum is unachievable.

I suppose that schools all have their own assessment systems and ways of reporting results. If a child achieves 115 in a test is there any further teacher assessment?

A score of 110 or even 115 isn't important unless a child also meets the standards detailed in the assessment framework so in a sense are misleading.

You are correct Feenie - just couldn't remember the exact wording when I was typing, hence using slightly more vague words.

really are you getting the continual teacher assessment confused with the SAT result? As the others have said the the working towards, meeting etc., are what the teacher feedback on. We had parents evening this week and were told our DD's SAT results (inc Spag) as our school decided to give the kids the test anyway and the teacher assessment details. I don't believe there's another assessment at this age for the kids that reached 115, as the continued teachers assessment will tell you if your child is doing super duper at school. Regarding the results being published, I'd be interested as my DD is very well too ;-)
