KS1 Sats 2016?

Slightly puzzled by SATS... Can anyone help? DD and a few others are going out of class to do level 3 reading comprehension practice. Presumably in preparation for a level 3 paper. Is the level 3 paper the same as the level 2 but with extra questions?? Is there also a level 3 paper for maths? I thought they'd got rid of 'levels' for 2016? Any SATs gurus out there....?

I had no idea about the ruler saga! One of the sample questions asks them to measure something, ffs.

They really don't know their arse from their elbow, do they? Shocking incompetence all round.

You couldn't make this up.

I hope they've got the marking sorted out, because a 2008 style marking debacle would be the icing on the cake.

At this point they'd be better of scrapping the entire thing and focusing on next year's, or 2018.

Thank you Feenie
Honestly it was best for me when it was teacher assessment only and you could use papers etc to back up your judgements if you wished. I had my ear bent in the playground yesterday about all the parents concerns with the KS1 SATS and we haven't had a meeting at school yet, which I am guessing is because of all the uncertainty (and thats me putting it politely!)

In the hostage video, Nicky said they were interim for a reason i.e. They will be changed so they work well for teachers. It seems likely they will change next year but hopefully not by much.

It could be argued that if you were designing a framework for assessment, making sure it works well for teachers would be the sort of thing you sorted out before you published it.

We are usimg the interim framework. Love the ruler saga!! It's a bit like the handwriting debate. The same webinar said the handwriting standards have to be met but other documentation says if they have the rest of the standards but illegible handwriting they can have the working at judgement!

Was just coming on to say this. I count 13 pages updated today on the STA site.

This update history just about sums it up:

'New document published to summarise the documents we have updated to reflect the messages in 'Clarification: key stage 1 and 2 teacher assessment and moderation guidance', publishe March 82016'.

I heard April for the reading exemplification. Has that changed again?

This May or next May?

I don't think they specified the year

On twitter Michael Tidd appears to be toying with the idea of leaving TA until the new date for reporting in June. Which would be after the LA moderation visits.

Could be interesting, and I suppose cause the next clarification to be issued.

Ive seen some posters on Twitter say their LEAs are asking for data up to a month before the June deadline. Not sure about mine but they normally want it a couple of weeks early.

Why tonight? Is there anything they want to sneak past us, do you think? I'm not opening any of them though, not until the weekend is over.

Excellent idea. I opened one and got confused.

I have this mental image of them sneaking out the office at 5pm before a bank holiday weekend at the start of the school holidays. Last person out presses the switch and sends the whole set 'live', then they run.

If they were going to do it properly, they should have done it during the march last night. Everyone was looking the other way then.

Suspected as much - clarification on the clarification that still makes everything as about clear as mud.
