that's where DC2 is in. school say it is fine but I don't trust them fully.

DC1 has severe learning difficulties and ASD - I haven't got an idea therefore what is typical/within expected range.

My 4yo ds is on green moving on to orange next week or week after all being well.

My DS ended YR on yellow. He wasn't 5 till June.

He is now on orange in Y1. His reading is now flying and he is making massive jumps.

I had the same view of DD reading. When she got to orange, it just flew from there because they can access so much more than scheme books.

DD ended YR on turquoise I think. Level 7. So got there much quicker. But the flying but seems to be going at a similar pace now.

Our school have no levels beyond white. 10?

DD was free reading in term 1 of Y2.
In Yr 3 read 101 Dalmations type books.
She is an excellent reader though and tops her class. Y4.

So comparing levels in a particular school seems meaningless to me.
