How old is she?

popsycal · 13/12/2006 21:09

just use the reception key words and the jolly phonics sounds
will do you a few links hold on

popsycal · 13/12/2006 21:11

jolly phonics download the leaflet

these fridge magnets changed ds1 from not being interested to being mad on reading
if you have a big branch of wilkinsons near you, they do them for £2.99

Thanks for that Popyscal, that is brilliant for helping DS with his sounds, he knows a few of them and I wondered how I could help but this great.

Thanks again

no worries
shout if you want anything else

See if you can get hold of any Letterland Books, my dd (3.6) loves them and we have just finished them as bedtime stories, she is now able to pick out the first letters of words and also knows the 'sounds' of most of the letters too.

Have a look here at their website

She is 4.5 btw

That's great, was wondering about posting something similar. DD (3.10) is starting to recognise sounds and link them together eg words beginning with the same letter. I know they use Jolly Phonics at the school she'll be going to and wanted to know a bit more about it. Thanks

Lucycat · 13/12/2006 21:48

Our school use the Jolly Phonics system for sounds but also the Letterland worksheets as they are very visual, and great for colouring in too!

crazydazy · 13/12/2006 22:06

I think its dead cute when they do the actions, my favourite with DS is when he does the "A" sound and rubs up and down his arm saying "aaaaaaa"

handlemecarefully · 13/12/2006 22:09

I think the only one my dd can remember thus far is 'S'.

We've some catching up to do!
