Background: DS was originally at a school that taught pre-cursive letter formation (with lead-ins and -outs on all lower case letters) from reception. We've since moved house and he's at a school that teaches printed lower case from reception and cursive from year 2.
Something DS teacher said at parents' evening - at the time I didn't understand what she meant. She was saying she keeps having to remind him not to "join" capital letters. He doesn't do a lot of writing at home so I'm not sure, but where he was practising spellings all I can see is his usual lead-ins on the letter after the capital.
So question is, to teachers or parents at schools that use pre-cursive to cursive styles:
Do they at some point teach them to stop doing lead-ins on the letters following a capital/initial letters in words? Or have we in fact just come up against a difference in style that we need to explain as such, and decide with the teacher whether to try to convert him to new school style or stay with old school style?
