Please help with this homework

Rewrite these sentences in the past tense with have (have is underlined)

Corrie moves from London to Belfast......

DD has drawn a blank and so have I!

They must mean using the past tense of the verb 'to have'. Only possible explanation I think?

You would think they would be able to write clear instructions for homework!

Yes, 'has moved' is correct. 'Will have to move' is not in the past tense. (I'm a languages teacher , if that helps .)

Corrie and her family have moved from London to Belfast?
Or is that cheating?
It looks like a mistake to me.

Sounds like she's meant to be doing the present perfect tense? But its worded really badly! Is she is Y3 or Y4?

I think it's that have is underlined, it makes it read like have should be in there somewhere!

Hence add in "and her family" or "and Bob" to make it plural and problem solved!

Ah, I see, it's a contorted question. In which case is "has moved", but that's not quite the past tense.

It is referring to something that has happened in the past and continues to the present.

I don't understand what is wrong with the question . It is asking you to re-write the sentence in the past tense using the verb 'to have'. And that's exactly what you are doing by saying 'Corrie has moved...'.

The reason they underline 'have' is to make it clear that you are supposed to use the form of the past tense which uses 'have' - i.e. 'Corrie HAS moved' rather than 'Corrie moved'.

Ricardian - it certainly is the past tense! Or rather it is A past tense, since there aare several types of past tense.

That's not what it says though and implies you need to use 'have' in the sentence. The question should be written the way you have worded it, not the way it was worded originally

Yes - I suppose when I read the question, I assumed /realised it meant generally the verb 'have' rather than the actual word 'have' iyswim.

The homework makes the assumption that the reader will know that a question about the past tense is referring to the verb. It could/should be clearer.
