Prep Schools near Exeter

I'm looking for some advice on Prep schools in or near Exeter.
We are relocating and using Exeter as our starting point but are happy to look in the surrounds for a good school.
With a son and a daughter We need either a co-ed prep school that would serve both of them or a boys prep and a girls prep.
Any advice or even names of schools to consider are gratefully received.
Many thanks.

A magazine dropped out of another magazine I bought! It is called A+ Educagtion - Outstanding Education - 50 Top Ranked West Country Schools.

I need to stress I do not know any of the schools, but here they are: The Maynard Junior School, Exeter and Stover, Newton Abbot. There are others mentioned for Devon but they are not close to Exeter. Have you had a look a the Good Schools Guide? This is usually good at identifying schools.

If you fancied Sherborne rather than Exeter, Sherborne Prep is lovely and (although I may be slightly biased) 'on the up'.

We have family down there and they like St Peters prep in Lympstone and Exeter school (but only from yr 3 I think). Both co-ed.

I live very nr Exeter, Exeter school has a fantastic reputation but as an earlier person mentioned it's only from 7+ and your children also have to go through an application process with an assessment, I know of a child currently receiving tutoring before she goes for the assessment in January. Another school in Exeter already mentioned is the Maynard school, again long standing school with a good reputation but only for girls. Stoves school in Newton Abbot is a mixed school with a good reputation for helping children of all abilities, a friends daughter went there when her current primary were not supporting her dyslexia and she has just started university after doing really well at Stoves. Some schools that haven't been mentioned yet are the St John's international school in Sidmouth, which is prep and secondary, it great for prep but isn't so strong when it comes to secondary. However it is worth noting that east Devon has the top grammar school in the country, Colyton grammar which is where most children who go to prep schools in this area aim to go. If you were happy to go into Somerset, Taunton has both the Kings school and the Queens school, both are mixed prep and secondaries, again with good reputations. Sorry for such a long message, if you want any more details I'm happy to answer any that I can
