Just been offered a place in our second choice school. Those of you who have experience, how quickly do i change him? He likes his current school and is in yr1. Do i wait til half term? Should i take him with me for the school visit?

Thanks tiggytape i was under the impression that once you accepted a place, you will have to start within 6 weeks so that's why i was wondering about halft term. I just don't know what is less painful. Just taking him out asap or leave him time to digest the thought of leaving his school??? His brother will start nursery in the same school apart from that, we don't know anyone else.

I would do it the very next Monday, as it's still so early in the school year.

I would talk about it lots, and take him to look around the school and meet the teacher. Be really positive and excited, and maybe a few friends from his current school around for tea on Friday, or over the weekend as a little "good bye" party.

When I decided to move my DS at the end of Y1, it was June, so I left it until September and he went on the "move up" day in July. He couldn't have cared less. I sometimes think adults can over think things, and if he's going to a lovely school he'll be fine. Smile
