In Year Admission

Hello. I would appreciate if you could give me any info about In Year Admission in Bromley.
I've been calling Bromley School Admissions but nobody answer the phone so I've decided to post a thread here.

We are moving to Bromley borough by the end of October 2015.
My two DC are in Primary School so I need to apply In Year Admission.

I was looking at In Year Admission application form and it says that If the tenancy/ownership of the previous address has not been surrendered, a new address may not be considered.

We are letting out our current house (we already found a tenant) as an investment and are now on a process of purchasing a new house in Bromley therefore technically we still own this current house.
We don't intend to come back this house and the new house in Bromley will be our permanent house.
Does this situation become a problem for applying in year admission?

Also do you think I should tell current school that we are leaving?
Just in case if my DCs don't get any offer a place in Bromley, I don't want to do it tbh but I may have to commute to our current school which probably takes 1 hour each way by car.

Depends where the other house is - if it's within a few miles, or in borough, admissions will be highly suspicious that its not a genuine move. If it's an hour drive away, you should be fine.

Having said that, for in-year admissions, it shouldn't be so relevant - if a school has a space, it should be given to you, regardless of where you live. The address is only relevant for ranking on waiting lists.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Our current house is not in Bromley borough and it will be about 10 miles away from the house we are moving to.

This is absolutely genuine house move so we can provide all documents.
I understand if this is for Reception or Secondary School but In-Year Admission Application form mentions 'ownership of the previous address' so I'm concerned.

I will try to call Admission department but if nobody answers the phone then I might pop in the Civic Centre.
It might be quicker that way rather than waiting for half an hour until someone answers the phone.

Again thank you.

As PatriciaHolm says, for an in year application your address will only come into play in determining your position on waiting lists. If you apply to a school that has a place available and no waiting list it must be offered to you regardless of where you live.

prh47bridge - Thank you very much for your reply.
Now two of you told me same thing so I think we will be OK then.

One of my friend told me that usually any schools are full in Autumn Term but it will be some movement after Spring Term especially in bigger schools.

I guess I have to keep ringing or visiting Admission department to get some idea.

I don't regret what we are doing now but relocation without children in school age is much easier!
