Is that 'allowed'...
While waiting for a place at local primary?
This might be my situation next year.
At the moment my daughter is in year two, l know that year are quite inflexible with regard to sizing.
Could l wait, keep her at home for a term or so? Thank you. Smile

Absolutely. You can do it for a long time or a very brief time.

There is plenty of flexibility in how you do it, so you can choose to follow a school-style approach if that feels right to you, or you could take the opportunity to do a project on an area your child is very interested in, or do some visits to interesting places.

Mumsnet has a home ed board and you are welcome to drop in there to ask questions.

Yes you can. The onus is on you to educate your child. The choice is yours how you do this.

Thank you both. I thought it was probably fine, just didn't know for sure.
I'm going to pop over to the home ed section at some point, as l'm going to homeschooling our 16 yr old (well unschool actually) thanks again. :)

I have just done this, de-registered my DC as we moved house and waiting still for a response from LA for our local school.

Goshthatsspicy · 03/09/2015 11:26

Good luck vanilla Smile l hope things come to quickly (for you)
For our personal situation, it will be better than having her in a temporary (probably bussed away) school.

Good luck to you too! We have applied to the LA 2 months ago and since then have no firm response. They advised that DC should keep attending the old school, but we won't as journey is unreasonable and not a good school anyway, so same as your situation I guess.
I mentioned i another topic that DC have made greater progress for 1 year with a tutor coming 1xweek at home, rather then 4 years + in their old school. They miss being without friends, but I hope this will be temporary.
Will see how long is going to take!
