7+ entrance tests - How to prepare?

Thinking of putting dd in for the Bishops Stortford College 7+ entrance. This is all new ground to us and I'm wondering how best to prepare her?
We're currently at a state primary just going into yr2. dd last report says she's exceeding in 3 areas and expected in all the others.

Do I need to tutor for the 7+ and if so how do I find out about tutors? All I can find on line are lots of agencies. I've heard about Bond test papers are these useful for 7+ ?
Any advice or experiences of the College would be greatly appreciated,

I think your best bet would be to find a mum of a child who is already at the school of your choice, and ask for a tutor recommendation. Some tutors book up well in advance though, and many start preparing for the 7+ at some point during Year 1.

Given the timing - you are too late to find a tutor. But it doesn't mean you are too late to work with her yourself.

First - I'd find out from the school's website what tests they do. Often there would be sample tests on the website.

Then I'd visit WHSmith, or Waterstones, or Amazon and get some practice books - Bond, Letts, Schofield and Sims (Mental Math, especially good). 7-8, and few 8-9 ones.

Then I'd set up regular practice time with your daughter. Have you spoken to her about the possible exam? Some kids might find it stressful, so you'll need to figure out the best way of doing it. You'll need her cooperation!

7yos are not natural exam-takers, so practice is important!
