Hello, I'm looking for information and experiences of the above schools. I have 2 Ds 4&6and am really unhappy about their current school. I also suspected my eldest may have ASD, although he appears to be growing out of many of the behaviours that led me to think this. It has taken the school 2 years to refer and now he hashad an "initial assessment" and they are now exploring ADHD instead. I'm interested to know about general experiences of the schools, but also from SEN input/ support perspective. Ds1 is pretty good at reading and maths is ok; he is left handed, his handwriting is difficult to read and he struggles to write much down, although he is happy to talk for ages Smile. All feedback re the schools would be helpful.

Chalky could I please ask one last question about Farringtons - do they have a staggered start in reception do you know or is it normal school hours from the word go? DD will also need to go to before and after school club from the beginning - the care looks brilliant which is another selling point for me as if she is going to be spending long days somewhere I want it to be nice. We're going to the open day at the end of this month so hopefully will find out more then but just wanted to pick your brains !

Hi iheartshoes for Farringtons we started DD in the pre-reception and she did half days for two terms and full days for the final term then from reception she started in Sep full time. I wasn't aware of anyone asking to go part time or wanting to so can't answer question. If you are paying the fee for full time I suspect it may be up to negotiation about what you do but they may try to encourage you to do full time for continuity etc. the clubs were very popular but we used the school bus rather than clubs which was amaaaaazing picking up DD at about 7.40 from our front door and dropping her back at 4.30. As she had been at the school already they knew she was well behaved and let her get the bus despite being so young, they usually say from aged 6 up I think. We only left at start of Y3 as DD was getting bored academically. Everything else was fantastic at the school.

PettsWood thank you so much for that ! The school bus would be amazing have had a look and it does stop near us so that would be great. I'm just focusing on finding somewhere that's lovely pastorally for DD for now and then I guess we'll see how we get on.

chalky good luck to your DS ! Big day !

What's the issue with st olaves? I was thinking of looking around there soon.

chameleon43 · 14/06/2016 11:34

suspect the st olaves with issues is the grammar school rather than the small prep in eltham which is being discussed here.......
