Moving schools

I would like to move my twin boys aged 5 from their current school, they have just done two terms in year R.
Is there any evidence to state that moving them, different school, different area, away would be detrimental to their welfare?

I don't know about any research on this. I moved my son at a similar age after the Easter term. He was scared and it was a big move but there was no issues. He still sees a couple of the kids from the old school from time to time, but it was the right move for all of us. you have the advantage that your twins will have each other even if they are placed in different classes they have strength in numbers. If you can, move them following the summer break as this is a nice end for them and a new beginning.

Many kids move schools. Normally adjust quickly, especially at such a young age. Agree that it's easiest to move after half-terms and holidays.

Explain to them, why they are moving in a language they may understand. If they have any close friends - reassure them that you'll keep in touch.
