How much are logo polos at your school?

Just curious really. Ours are £7.50 which are expensive compared to supermarket ones, however they have lasted ok - a bit stained and bobbled now after almost a full year. They have a much nicer fit than the Tesco ones I bought. I also found the Tesco ones quite hard and stiff at the collar after washing (but then I don't use fabric softener due to sensitive skin). So all in all I'm happier with the quality of the logo ones but just think they are a bit expensive for what they are.

Last year I bought 2 as DD initially had a preference for shirt and tie. She's now wanting poloshirts every day so I think I will need 4 for next year but that's £30 Hmm. I would ideally get 5 but I think we could get by on 4.

I know this may seem early but I'm in Scotland and school finishes up in 6 weeks and the uniform order forms will be out the week after next so it's on my mind at the moment!

So yeah, how much do yours cost and do you think they are worth the money?

Also any good recommendations for non branded polos that don't shrink, stay soft, and aren't short and wide fit (ie I want long and narrow fit)?

Because supplying embroidered school uniform at an affordable price is the only decent thing Tesco have done in years.

Ours are £13. DS has 1 logoed, then supermarket ones for the rest of the time.

Our PTFA do a second hand uniform sale at each parent's evening. £1 an item.

VinoTime · 11/05/2015 18:59

£8.00 each.

I'm not buying the logo one's this year. The polo tops for DD's uniform are the most disgusting shade of yellow you've ever seen. And they go an even more disgusting colour the more you wash them. So I'm buying some from Marks and Spencer's instead that look a little less neon. I think in DD's size they're £7.00 for a pack of two, which at £3.50 each is bloody fantastic value for good quality, pure cotton polo's.

Thankfully DD's school aren't overly uptight on uniform, or I'd be doomed to spend another £40.00 on florescent material that makes my eyes hurt Grin

Ours are £12! Crazy. And they are wide and short: totally wrong for DS. And wash really badly. Because of that I didn't buy second hand but I think I will in future. Ive never seen a child at the school in non- logo polo, but I'm tempted to try.

DS's are £6 each for logoed ones but he mostly wears Tesco ones at the moment. The 2 logoed ones are better fabric and hold their shape better but he's happy with the others too.

Ours are £6.95 but the quality is appalling - they are Fruit of the Loom ones which used to be pretty good but these are very shoddy - bobbled the first time they were washed and look like dishcloths by now. DD2 has just started YR and I've bought her 1 logo-d polo and 2 each from M&S and Matalan. M&S ones are by far the best in terms of quality (100% cotton as opposed to poly-cotton) and washability (and cheaper for 2 than 1 'proper' one)

Mopmay · 11/05/2015 22:03

Vino John Lewis gold ones are ace too!

RoosterCogburn · 11/05/2015 22:14

£8 and £10.50 (larger sizes)
This is cost price and the school don't make any profit selling uniform.

Lindy2 · 11/05/2015 22:45

Ours are about £8 and a bit of an unusual colour. Apart from the official uniform shop I only know of one place you can get the right colour without the logo. You can buy them second hand from the school for about £1 and I've actually been given loads in bigger sizes by friends with older children. The logo shirts do however seem to be really good quality. They wash and dry really well and being a dark colour are pretty stain resistant. I think they are well worth it.

DS school require a £9 one for PE, along with logo'd joggers and sweatshirts at about £15 each. And that's before you start on actual uniform. (Academy.)

BeCool · 12/05/2015 02:00

£9.

Eccle · 13/05/2015 22:39

£6-8 each depending on size. The school use the M&S school uniform and I think get some money back from it. I buy plain ones instead as they're white and knowing how quickly they get stained I'd rather pay less and replace when too grey or marked!

Tutu1000 · 13/05/2015 22:46

At the infants school they are £8, the junior sizes are more expensive. I don't buy the logoed t-shirts for my kids, because the quality at our school is shocking. I don't know who makes them, but they are poly-cotton, they feel horrible and bobble really badly, straight away. My kids have eczema and need 100% cotton ones so I get either supermarket's own or Marks and Spencers. Luckily our schools don't insist on having logoed stuff. If they did I'd be refusing to buy it based on the quality.

AuditAngel · 13/05/2015 22:57

Ours are £8 each, and no plain ones allowed. Must have logo. DS is on his 3rd set in 7 years. At 10 he is still wearing age 5-6! He asked for new thus year, but as age changes schools this summer, I refused. Girls can only wear polo shirts in Y6, and anything that fits DS now, won't fit DD1 when she's in Y6. DS accepted this, and U.S. struggling in and out of the small ones Grin
