2009 is one of the years (with 2007) that is currently bring used as the official test paper, so you won't find them anywhere on line. Schools will have old copies, and the lot that have been ordered for this year will have arrived in school, but are locked away.

The curriculum is far tougher than in 2009 when my son say his key stage 1 sats. I thought that new papers were produced for every year.

Thanks padkin, that explains why I can't find it on line x

The 2007 & 2009 papers test the old national curriculum, which is what the current year 2 pupils are still being taught, ReallyTired.

There will be new papers next year that match the new curriculum, which the next year 2 cohort will be taught.

Y2 are still being taught /tested on the old curriculum. They are still using the old papers so you won't find them online. Are you wanting them for revision purposes to help your own dc prepare?

TeenAndTween · 28/04/2015 10:59

You shouldn't imo be doing anything at home to prep for ks1 sats.

ketlady · 28/04/2015 15:34

Wanted them for revision, find that sat papers and seeing how the same question can be worded differently is useful for ensuring that children have an understanding of vocab needed . For example funding the difference can be worded in multiple ways on the maths paper.
Don't see the harm in home prep after all don't people study for all exams including sats 11+ etc

The difference is

  • there are a limited number of old SATS papers and he will be practicing at school (so by doing them at home already, you have skewed his marks/experience)
  • the results of the KS1 SATs paper is not reported. It is to inform the teacher assessment only. If he struggles to understand the paper and does very badly, his teacher will disregard the results and base their level on the work they see in class. If he is overprepared in test technique by a zealous parent, the teacher will look for evidence that he is consistently working to this standard in class, and if he isn't will disregard the test result and base their level on the work they see in class.

but mainly

  • you will be making them into a big deal which they are not supposed to be!

Agree with redsky

zero prep for KS1 SATs.
some but limited prep for KS2 SATs.
full guns blazing for GCSEs.

All of which won't be an issue next year when there are no old papers to practise at home ??
