How did younger siblings cope with older ones at school

We have a two year age gap and dd is due to start school in September.

My ds is almost 2 and follows dd everywhere! They play really well together and have a lovely relationship!

I think he will be lost when his older sister starts school.

I was just wondering how the younger ones cope!

Ours are two school years apart and they missed each other.
The school was great with reception though, and let the little siblings play in the room for fifteen minutes before school started. Meant they settled very well when they started school themselves!

2.7y between mine; DS is just 3 and DD is Y1. DS is still not used to DD being at school, despite her having been at school for over half his life! He asks if we can go and pick her up yet by around 10am and they shriek when they see each other as though they'd been apart for months.

I suggested some weekend one-to-one time with DD recently and she burst into tears, sobbing that she hadn't seen her brother ALL WEEK. No mention of parents! Hmm

My dd started university in Sepember- her younger brother misses her dreadfully. And he missed her when she left their primary to go to secondqry school.

So starting school is only the beginning. Sorry. Sad
