Is level 3c now in year 3 OK?

Year 3 DD has just had some assessments and is 3c for maths and 3b for reading. I also have a year 5 DS who has always been very ahead academically. Maybe because of this I am a little worried that DD should be further on. Teacher has raised no concerns, but I don't really want to ask her because I worry about looking pushy. So is DD doing OK?

You'll get people on saying the old levels don't count any more, but apart from that:

Yes 3c is fine.

The Aim for end y2 is 2b, so 3c even at the end of y3 is fine, and you still have a whole term to go. This is not 'high achiever' territory, as they reach L3 in y2, but neither is it 'low achiever'.

(And if it's any encouragement, my DD1 was a 2a for maths at the end of y4 and now in y11 she is predicted a B/A for her maths GCSE.)

Thanks Teen. I was rubbish at maths so at least she is doing OK. It's definitely not a strong point for her although she seems to be grasping it a bit more recently.

Expectations now with the new curriculum are higher so comparing 3c from a Y3 last year to this year won't help at all.

You need to check with the school how they set these levels as there are no national ones anymore. Our school has lost them totally, children are just put in brackets , below, expected, above, and tested 3 times a year plus obviously teacher observations.
