and not learning anything new?

DD is.

She says many lessons have just consisted of revising/copying things down from the board for weeks now. School is pushing extra maths and English lessons and has been for months now - all to do better in SATs. Argh!

What to do? Ignore? Contact school and express my frustration? Anything else?

DD brought loads of stuff home for the holidays (they get 3 weeks off) and even have a boaster half day in the holiday that everyone has been invited to. She brought a school report home stating she was 5b across the board so not really sure why boaster sessions are needed but she wants to go. I've asked her teachers recently what her gaps are so we can do some work on those so she doesn't take them into senior school. She seems happy to do the extra work so I'm happy too.

Same here. Even children who have a good level 5 are given "booster sessions" totally mad imo. DD came home with Cgp revision books and something that looked like a sample paper last half term. (This is a school that can not afford sharp pencils!?). I got DD to do 20 minutes of the sample paper and sent it back in go school with a note saying that we felt 20 minutes was enough time spent on this paper. Sadly there is not much we can do about the sats madness in school but we will not be supporting these tests at home. I think year 6 should be about having fun and getting ready for secondary school.

The boaster sessions are so the school can boast about how many 5a and 6s they get Grin

lol at boaster sessions. I didn't notice my own typo so maybe it's me that should go to the booster sessions instead of DD Grin

Grin at boaster sessions - we get a lot of those on Mn!
