Spellling homework driving me mad

He couldn't care less. Driving me mad. Best I have gotten is -
The removal of lots of the traffic lights signal jams over the next few days.

I think you are probably correct, and the word The having the capital 'T' gives the clue that it is probably the first word in the sentence. (But I don't offer any money-back guarantee!)

Probably the best way to approach things like this is to write each word on a separate slip of paper, then you can shuffle them around until you are happy (?) with the result.

I get that your DS doesn't like this but if you're in an 11+ area I suspect this will oddly be of benefit. Either for Cloze type questions where a word is missing or for reordering garbled sentences questions - which indeed are on some CEM exams.

Treat it as a puzzle - rather than torture.

With DD1 when she had this kind of thing for 11+ prep - we found it was more fun (and straightforward for her) to cut out individual words and then swap them round on the table until it made a sensible sentence.

Just print out sentences in larger font - maybe add extra spaces between words.
