Having seen the secondary education thread pop up as it's allocation day, I'm reminded and feeling quite nervous about how primary allocations are only a month and a bit away. is it too soon to start a thread for people to come and vomit with nerves and panic over allocations yet?

wishing everyone good luck

Also slightly worried but have pushed it to the back of my mind well I had done, until I read this thread ha

My local primary is a faith school unfortunately and it seems to be quite important to have documented your faith by way of church attendance.. Should have looked into this school application thing way before it arrived! I could have been a frequent church goer with a better chance of success..

It's oversubscribed as it's ofsted outstanding, and my DS only has school-home proximity going for him.. Roll on April!

Gileswithachainsaw · 02/03/2015 21:23

What are the alternatives winter

Hello!

I'd like to join the wait... And am also really nervous!

We live so close to our school that I didn't think it could possibly be an issue, then looked into it and how tiny the intake is....saw that people closer than me were refused last year and allocated the next nearest school which is huge.

(I have put the huge school as my second choice but I don't want it!)

TourGuideBarbie · 03/03/2015 16:56

Whats your waiting situation Giles?

ElsaShmelsa · 03/03/2015 16:58

I'm not there now, but I was two years ago...

I was very sneaky though. The schools got told a couple of days before we did, so I called our first choice school the day they were due to get their names and numbers and said 'I'm just pre-empting the situation that we may not get in to the school and I was just wondering how we appeal, do we come through you or through the LEA'. The school secretary said to me 'well I know we haven't had our full intake this year so what was your DD's name' I told her and she said 'ahh yes, she's on the list - but of course I can't tell you officially' and laughed.

I was so thrilled and relieved!!

So I do know how you feel, I couldn't even wait two more days to find out... Good luck to you all!! Smile

Gileswithachainsaw · 03/03/2015 16:58

hello Smile

yes its soon stressful isn't it. I live near three schools one is so close I can hear the children walking past. It's a faith school so no chance.

Our catchment school is shit so I'm sadly having to pin all hope on a non catchment school with a sibling link. We are some distance away too so going rapidly grey here.

very envious of those who don't care as all local schools are good

Tour guide there are many many advantages to big schools so relax. Ours is awesome and each class is still 30 so that's the key bit. You will find a lot of people on this board who agree

cartoonsaveme · 03/03/2015 18:43

Blimey Elsa in our LA they would prob get sacked for that if anyone found out.

Gileswithachainsaw · 09/03/2015 17:18

We also got told we had a place at a particular primary school before allocation day-we didn't...long story and turned out ok for us, but wait for the email/computer message/ letter .

Good luck as I remember the or aftermath of allocations, but being on Mumsnet is a fantastic place to hold hands but also get help

Gileswithachainsaw · 09/03/2015 18:10

I'm hoping someone can give some idea as to what I need to do for an appeal.

might have to start a new thread for that though if no one here knows Smile

OP posts:
cartoonsaveme · 09/03/2015 18:30

Gileswithachainsaw · 09/03/2015 18:43
