World Book Day Angst

So, rather than come to school dressed as a book character, DD's school has come up with the ingenious idea of coming to school dressed as a word.

They have said nouns or colours are not allowed but have given examples such as sleepy (and wear PJ's) or backwards (and wear your clothes back to front).

Can anyone think of something original...I am terrible at this sort of thing.

I have DD in yr 3 and DS in nursery.

Thank you!

How about one of the Pop-Art words - 'POW!', 'ZAP!' or something like that?

stealthsquiggle · 27/02/2015 17:06

"Unimaginative" and go in uniform? [helpful]

TywysogesGymraeg · 27/02/2015 17:10

Magic, dportyy, French, Music, Spring, Autumn (etc), royal, Christmas, Cowboy, brave,

TywysogesGymraeg · 27/02/2015 17:10

That second one is sporty Blush

TywysogesGymraeg · 27/02/2015 17:13

Adjectives work best. Hungry, curious, strong,

GoofyIsACow · 27/02/2015 17:14

Stealth that is absolutely brilliant and I think you should absolutely do that OP!

Hersetta427 · 27/02/2015 17:28

lol stealth, that is brilliant!

I thought of cowboy but wasn't sure if that would count as a noun (would be handy though as he has a cowboy outfit).

I have thought of extinct and he could dress as a dinosaur.

Culinary? Chef's hat, apron and whisk?

Another vote for unimaginative too!

Flomple · 27/02/2015 17:53

Swashbuckling (pirate), intrepid (explorer or astronaut), magical (witch, Elsa etc). Pioneering for cowboy?

I do love Unoriginal though.

stealthsquiggle · 27/02/2015 17:55

You could get round the colour ban by doing "bright", or "dark"

Flomple · 27/02/2015 17:58

Stealth - yes, or clashing, or vibrant

MidniteScribbler · 27/02/2015 20:54

"Late" and wear PJs with your hair all messy.

"Motivated" and wear gym clothes.

"Tacky" and wear garish clothes that don't match.

"Confused" and wear a pair of knickers on your head.

howtodrainyourflagon · 27/02/2015 21:10

Free. Wear home clothes. Or girl. Or boy.

nonicknameseemsavailable · 27/02/2015 21:19

unoriginal is great and would definitely be chosen in our house. ridiculous idea IMO from the school but then I hate all this dressing up rubbish. For World Book Day we wear normal clothes and then try to come up with a character from a book we can claim to be.

mumsneedwine · 27/02/2015 21:35

Wear normal clothes and claim to be a muggle.

Ellle · 27/02/2015 21:38

DH has a couple of suggestions: "normal" and just wear the usual school clothes.
Or choose "absent" and just keep them at home!

SisterMoonshine · 27/02/2015 21:46

Think of what he wants to wear and we can maybe come up with a word for you.
Like, does he want to go in the cowboy costume?

Hersetta427 · 27/02/2015 23:39

He has a cowboy, Bob the builder and superman outfits so I know he would love to wear those.

May go with sparkly for dd and she can wear a sequin covered dress and we will throw glitter in her hair before she goes into school.

Flomple · 27/02/2015 23:53

Coming back to this, for your older one show her the costume and let her think up her own describing word for it. Glittery, sparkly, shiny - let her own it.

Might be trickier with your little one but you could think up a shortlist and let him pick. Superman = flying, brave, super :), good.

stealthsquiggle · 28/02/2015 00:43

Bob the Builder could be "capable" or something similar.

Superman could be "super" which might be easier for DS to understand

Cowboy could be - um - "western" Confused?
