Help please. Ds in y3 likes horrid Henry and understands the stories. He's tried some other proper books like Roald Dahl but struggled with some of the plots. Can you suggest other things he might like? His reading decoding is probably ahead of his comprehension.

The Creaky Castle series by Tony Bradman
The Faraway Tree series by Enid Blyton

Both loved by my DS

Captain Underpants was what DS1 moved onto (and loved even more than HH)

Can't recommend it as top quality literature though.

DS2 loved Astrosaurs, which DS1 didn't take to at all.

Have you looked at Horrible Histories? They are non-fiction and pretty accessible language

DS has also got some badly written paperbacks Alien Invaders which he loves...they came from the book people I think?

DS is 6, and apart from the Beast Quest addiction, he loves the Supercat books by Jeanne Willis. The seem funny to me too!
