Has anyone heard anything this evening? Apparently surnames names at beginning of alphabet would hear this evening.

Also I can't see how we can receive letters on Monday as the earliest they would have letters ready to post would be 2pm on Saturday and that's after last collection on Saturday . So even if c.c. Post on Saturday pm, wouldn't Royal Mail / post company collect on Monday anyway and we receive on Tuesday. I wonder why they don't inform by email. ?

I agree Stopshrieking. Email would have been better and instant meaning my misery is cut short by a decent measure :-) I am really happy that DS is oblivious to all that is going in my head. not long now.. I will post as soon as I get a letter irrespective of outcome..

Just my luck - the post has arrived but no letter!

shoutymcshoutsmum · 19/01/2015 11:35

No interview for my DS. Disappointed but not surprised.

Rhythem · 19/01/2015 13:05

I can understand what you feel. May be you can try next time and some of the boys are not mature enough. I've been to the interview and been turned down.

Stopshrieking · 19/01/2015 13:13

My DS didn't get an interview either - do feel disappointed as he has a very good work ethic which he has developed over the years.

Just opened the letter and sadly its a no for us as well :-(

I'm reading your posts with a slightly sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. We are thinking of putting our son forward for 7+ next year, at CC / WUS / Latymer Prep, and I suspect I will be posting very similar messages. So (apart from not doing it all) what have you learned from the process? Did any of you tutor, or did you go down the DIY route? Is there anything you'd do differently?

Commiserations to those of you who've been unsuccessful this time. And good luck to those still waiting.

WestSideDad · 21/01/2015 06:44

As someone with a kid in CC, we chose the 8+ and, in retrospect, wish we had chosen the 7+ for entry. It's much less stressful, although obviously not stress free. Their expectations on achievement level really aren't super-human. They're very achievable.

We (I) took the diy option, went through more Bond (and the like) books than we needed. A little every day for about 6 months. 20-30 minutes. The 8+ level is higher, obviously, but we/I vastly over-shot. By the time of the exam, he was completely un-phased by the requirements of the exam. I was a gibbering wreck.

As for the exam itself, both students and teachers handle it very well. They break it up into manageable chunks. It's not the gulags. The teachers at that level are all extremely friendly and warm. Honestly, you couldn't hope for nicer people.

Best of luck to all.

Sorry to ask a silly question. When does one actually have to register a boy for entry at 7+ at schools like CC and KCS? Is it like with 4+ entry where you have to do it years before / birth, or can you do it nearer the time, such as a year or two in advance?
