Are these target levels unreasonable?

In the front on ds1's English book he has a sticker which says-

Current level- 4c
End of year target- 6c

He's in year 6 so presumably these are SATS prediction. Too much surely?

They sound more like end of middle school targets to me!

All of his targets are a 6c? That's silly and a bit beyond the normal "we need to set aspirational targets" nonsense (and I used to teach at a middle school).
The Maths should be possible with proper teaching. Lots of mine tend to make a level per year, but Level 6 stuff doesn't tend to get covered unless he's in the appropriate set for it.
The English is difficult. I've got quite a group of boys on a 4a at the moment and I'm busy trying to shift them into the Level 5 and get them secure and confident there. Getting to Level 5 in reading isn't that difficult, but the Level 6 reading paper is very hard. They appear to have put support for him in place, though.
Science isn't much of an issue, really. His middle school should have the planning and resources available for it.
Getting from 3c to 5c in French is a bit of a jump. I used to target mine at Level 3a/4c for the end of KS2 at most. Most children don't start KS3 with a Level 5 in French. They aren't supposed to, either. (I had many conversations with parents, when they were worried that their child was only a 2b/a in French in Year 5. It's normal.)
His PE level is quite low, though. Hmm

He's in a middle school, so I assume they set by ability and have the "manpower" to put booster groups in place. (I know we used to.) It should therefore be possible for him to get to the Level 6,...but probably quite hard work.

Weird isn't it? I wonder if the whole year group has the same. There doesn't seem to be any other rhyme or reason to the levels.

It is quite a small middle school, just two form entry. They do split by ability in some subjects and mixed ability for others.

What's the Hmm face about PE for?

What's the Hmm face about PE for?
It looks like a very low level in comparison to the others, particularly if he's supposed to get to a 6c. It's also a comparatively low level for Year 6, unless he's got SEN in this particular area. Unlike French, PE is something he should have done at his first school, even if it wasn't being assessed in terms of levels. The same rules therefore don't apply.
I've currently got a Year 6 class at a small primary school, we lack the equipment and the expertise...but I wouldn't level any of mine that low. So I'm a bit Hmm, because it doesn't appear to match up with the rest of his levels.

Most schools expect 2 full levels progress from end of key stage 1 to end of key stage 2 (e.g. 2a in Year 2 SATs and 4a in Year 6 SATs). Each year the child should make 2 sub levels progress so end of year 5 4c should be 4a by end of year 6.

Sooo..
if he ended year 4 on a level 4c, he should have been a 4a by the end of year 5 and be aiming for a 5b end of year 6.

Yes they are being aspirational but I would't complain, they probably know he is capable of accelerated progress.

It seems the whole year group have been set this same target. Pointless shit if you ask me.

I will ask about the PE at next parents' evening but I'm not too worried. He doesn't have any SEN, can run, cycle, throw, catch, climb fine but just isn't keen on team contact sports (scared of getting hurt!).

He seems to be on target for the 2 full levels since year 2 sats so that's good.
