Moving from Wales to Worcester. Looking for schools for DD and DS Year 2, 4 and 5. Am I right that RGS and King's both have 2 feeder school? Seems unusual. What is the difference between them? Very confused.

Kings Hawford is very sport and outdoors sort of place Kings St Albans is for the less sport obsessed child. The Grange is similar to Hawford and Springfield more like St Albans. All are good schools. I know that Hawford has very limited places at present not sure about the others.

Oh and the Kings schools are selective not sure about RGS

Hawford and the Grange have lots of outdoor space, and use it. Springfield and St Albans are city centre, so have much less space. They are also close physically to the senior schools.
Otherwise, you'd be best going to visit them to see which schools you like the feel of.

I'm not sure I'd say Hawford is for the sport obsessed, but it isn't for children/parents who don't want to be outside. Outdoor play is very important, and they are out in all weathers. There is no escaping the sport, or dance (like the dance showcase where everyone y3-6 perform) or drama, or music which they are really excelling at

Hi, thanks for explaining all of this. Bril to get your feedback. My 2 older children are very sporty. The youngest is quiet and studious. Are Springfield and St Albans the same academic level, as I see that King's are selective and RGS are not.

Me again. Also wondering which of the more sporty schools is bigger Hawford or Grange? Do they do weekend matches? Can you play a broad range of sports. Do either do water sports or climbing? Does one have better facilities than the other?

RE Springfield and St Alban/ Does anyone know how many forms they have per year and how big they are? Do Kings and RGS get similar results? Coming to visit over half term. Thanks for your comments.

I don't think either do weekend matches. At KH boys play rugby, football, cricket; girls hocket, netball, rounders. All do swimming, athletics, dance. Afterschool, theres other things offered, and that includes katakanus and the bouldering wall.

I haven't been to the Grange for ages - ds has as they play against them, and did a holiday rugby course there last year

Thanks CMOTDibbler and Willdoitinaminute. That's really helpful.

Wonder if any Springfield / St Alban parents are out there and can fill me in on these 2 schools?

Regarding results Kings has done better overall than RGS over the last few years but RGS only went CoEd relatively recently when they merged with Alice Otley in 2007 which may have had an effect on results.
Kings have been fully CoEd since the late 80s. There has been a change in Heads at both schools this year. Kings was a retirement and a planned change over. New head seems to have settled in quickly and have not heard any feedback so far.

Thanks for all this. Is Kings a bigger school than RGS? Looks like fees are higher at Kings.

If you include the junior schools with the senior schools then they are about the same size. if you visit the websites you can find exact numbers for each school.
