Has anyone got experience of The Thrive Project?

Hi,

I've just had a letter from my dds infants school that they will be doing the Thrive Project. We can opt out if we like but I wanted to know more about it and if anyone else's school was doing it. It's rather unclear and googling hasn't really helped. Thanks!

Is it this?

Are there lots of problems in the school?

Thanks so much for answering. Yes it looks like that's what it is. I don't think there are massive problems the school isn't in a bad area but there are certainly kids who would benefit from this. We've been given a form to send back if we don't want our kids assessed and it doesn't really bother me but I'm still worried about the whole thing and can't quite put my finger on why.

I suppose I feel so much time is spent on certain kids that this will be more time spent on them and does it really benefit my dd? But of course there are kids who need help and it would be great if they get it. Argh I don't know! It's going ahead with or without the parents support I guess but I'm unsettled about it. Thanks so much for the link.

I don't have experience of it but it sounds like it's coming from the right place. When you posted it I thought it might be something with dodgy religious associations but it seems to be rooted n psychology and attachment theories.

Hopefully someone who has experience will be along soon.

I guess the idea is that yes they do have to spend an awful lot of time dealing with certain children who disrupt the learning of others but maybe this is a way of redressing the balance? E.g. To gain a deeper understanding to deal with/change behaviour and therefore have to spend less time dealing with disruption in the future.
All children should benefit in the long run.
