What age to stop using gro-clock?

My son is 4.5. We've happily used a 'Gro-clock' for a couple of years. But recent reports about how blue light disturbs asleep/melatonin production concern me. Have you used one of these clocks? At what age did you stop using it?

We stopped using it when DD could tell the time and was reliably not coming through before 7

I found both my older dc could understand the first digit of a digital clock by reception. I.e. "if it starts with a 3 or 4 or 5 go back to bed. If it starts with a 6 play quietly and if it's a 7 or 8 come and wake us up"

Have you turned down the brightness on the night time screen? We've done this and I cannot see it with the room lights turned off.

(Can't help with the actual age question as DD is only 2).

We have only recently got one (DS2.1) but we can turn the blue backlight off, the clock still lights up when it's ok for him to get up so he knows to wait for this. Does your clock have this function?

Still using it at 6yo here - she can tell the time so it's just the beeping alarm function. We don't bother with the blue moon any more - she has a clock on the wall instead.

I have the blue screen brightness down to 1, but perhaps I can turn it off - I will check tomorrow. Thank you for the replies.

Oh... My sons are 7 and 4 and still have theirs on. Obviously they can tell the time now, but they don't like change. They might never sleep again if I took it away...

Ours is just part of bedtime routine, they are 4 and 5. 'Goodnight mr sun see you in the morning...hello mr star' Grin

Same as quillpen re ages. Still using it.

My DS is nearly 5 and he still uses his. He sleeps extremely deeply and it makes a great nightlight so I wouldn't feel the need to turn the backlight down tbh.

Mine still uses his. He's 20. And at Oxford. Grin Grin
