Handled this really badly

Think I've put d's1 (5yrs) off his piano lessons :( Just had a pathetic pmt fueled row with him about him not wanting to practice. I ranted on about what a waste of money it was and called him a 'quitter' when he (unsurprisingly) then said he didn't want to do piano any more . Cue both my children getting very upset and howling at my shouty voice :( I've apologised and hugged both boys. In the end Ds1 played around a bit on the keyboard which is something I suppose but he's still hurt I can tell and he's mumbling to himself that he can't do anything and that he's stupid :( (he's actually a smart boy but not so great at putting in effort for things that don't come easily - like the keyboard). What to do? Next lesson is tomorrow. :(

I have 3 DC taking piano lessons. By virtue of her being at our house - she has had 'time' with DS since he turned 5. He's now 6.5 and they are only just approaching the keyboard (one note one finger rather than frere jacques). Up to now it has been a lot of musical games (eg teacher gets him to mime the music depending if she's playing low or high, or minor or major). Lots of musical aerobics - which looks like voodoo to me, but apparently physiologically prepares them. He is also reasonable at 'reading' music, in the sense that he can clap a crochet/quaver/minim rhythm, knows note names and positions on the stave etc. She had like a workbook with stickers which they've done together/ for 'homework'.
