Why did she say that to my daughter

On Friday my daughter told me that she told one of the teaching assistants that she was going to black pool on the Saturday (we were going with my mum) and my daughter said that this teaching assistant said tommy child "it's boring there and all the lights are all the same"
At first I thought she was joking but actually thinking about I think it's out of order and she shouldn't be saying these things to my daughter. I'm really angry she's said this
My child was excited because nana was coming and she says things like that
I'm fuming

Seems a very odd thing to say to a child but also seems a very odd thing for a child to make up.

I guess if this is the first issue you've had with the school or this particular member of staff then perhaps put it down to a misunderstanding.

You need context, exact words she said and how she said it to form any sort of opinion! It's quite common for things to get lost in translation.

How did your DD react to what the TA said?

If completely true, then yes that's a bit off to say it to an excited child who's looking forward to something.. Eg
'I'm going on holiday to Disneyland!'
'I've been there, it's shit.'

I suspect your dd got the wrong end of the stick.

I wonder if it was supposed to be an aside to another adult, but was a bit louder than she meant, meaning your daughter overheard... would seem an odd thing for an adult to say.

sammyjayneex · 29/09/2014 16:16

No it was definetly to my daughter because my daughter was actually telling the teacher she was going to black pool with her whole family and then they teacher apparently said
"xxxxx (my child's name) it's wrong everything thing is always the same"
my child wouldn't have mentioned it of it didn't bother her and I asked my child how did it make her feel and she said "I was disopointed"

It sounds as if she's pretty childish herself ... even if she dislikes Blackpool all she needed to say was "hope you have a lovely time"

DrankSangriaInThePark · 29/09/2014 18:19

It sounds a bit childish I agree.

Don't let it bother you though, and hope you have a lovely time. (Or had, if it was this Saturday!)

Camolips · 29/09/2014 18:49

What did she say though? Boring or wrong? It's very easy to get the words wrong let alone the context and tone. I can't imagine an adult saying something that hurtful and hopefully it was a misunderstanding. Maybe your dd missed the first few words eg. "I love it there! But my husband says it's boring and all the lights are the same". I wouldn't let it bother you, we all know the lights are amazing! Have a great time!
