Hi,

Recently I moved house away from the catchment area of my son's primary school; this happened after my son started reception; can the school withdraw the place?; we lived for a year in the previous address and have post received, contract and proofs we lived there during the application process and when school started.

Thank you

My understanding is that the school cannot withdraw the place, I know several people who moved away in my London borough.

However a phone call to your Local Authority on a no-name basis will probably put your mind at rest too.

None at all - we are planning to move out of London in the next 6 months. Love our daughter's amazing primary and the ones in the areas we are looking at are pretty mediocre. She will be commuting in with us... train journey ideal for reading with us and homework.

I know a number of other children doing the same - just means a bit more effort at weekends and holidays for parties and play-dates. She also attends after-school club so basically has play-dates everyday during term-time.

Our daughter also goes to a stage-school at weekends and has friends from there, so we will find something similar where we move to so that she makes some local friends.

It's only an issue if you do the move very close to the acceptances for Reception when the council may investigate as to the legitimacy of the move.
