Hi I am looking at applying to some of the primary independent schools and was wondering if children in the nursery are given preference?

I think you will find each school has it's own policy on this. Near us some guarantee entry - others are more fussy (not have place for a disruptive child etc)

The one dc went to only took 6 new entrants into Reception in dd's year , rest (about 36) came via the nursery.

Ours guarantee the nursery children a place, but they are not selective and have a really good programme for children with additional needs.

If they are non selective I wouldn't think it matters about the nursery, unless of course they are over subscribed but I don't think many private schools are.

which school? is it selective? What do the school say?

Picturesinthefirelight · 18/09/2014 10:02

At my children's school yes nursery children got priority as did siblings.

Main point of entry at ours is the nursery. 23/24 pupils of which about 8 are siblings. No intake in Reception unless one of them leaves.

I was looking at Old Palace and Virgo Fidelis
