DS starts reception in 2 weeks (eek!) & I've been asked to label everything (clothing). Been looking & def don't want sew-in too much hassle so assume it'll have to be iron on or stick on but which is best?

Also what do people do with socks & shoes?

Recommendations much appreciated.

I have done footy socks for mine with iron ons from my name tag as well as all an elderly parents socks and underwear etc in care home. they haven't come off after 18 mths - but as I said, you have to make sure the iron is hot enough that they really bond

I mean to add once they are on the stretch with the fabric so do tights and everything. I did footy socks on the feet Grin

I am a Primary School Teacher and would definitely recommend labelling absolutely everything, including each shoe and each P.E. pump.

The amount of times I have asked the little ones "who has lost a shoe?" and they all look at me blankly, is unbelievable. It is impossible to ask every parent, so they go into a box in my classroom for people to come and collect (I know if they go to the School Lost Property they will never be found again), most of the items stay there for the the rest of the year and are never collected.

Higher up the school, I have in the past identified items to give back to children (not with names) and they have said "no, it's definitely not mine, I haven't lost anything", and don't take them home.

Forgot to add- socks and tights are the most common items to go missing, in my experience.

I bought some off eBay, they are iron on and the name is printed on them (you obviously request what name you want). They are fab, never come off in the wash or tumble drier and only cost a few pounds for about 200 labels.
