Merchant Taylor's is a high school, their prep school is called standfield.

Crosby is a very nice area, around - 30 min drive from Ormskirk. Probably more on the he school run!

Crosby is lovely, the school has a good reputation. Personally I wouldn't want to do that drive every morning! I do know they have school buses but don't know if one comes from Ormskirk, or whether you'd want a 7 year old on the school bus.

The a59 is a nightmare at present due to the new road extention at Switch Island. If allow yourself at least an 45 mins for the journey.

Merchants has good reviews although I know many who think it's got new money as in it attracts also people who have made their money in less desirable ways! (Though that's only second hand info).

Buses do go from ormskirk for secondary. I doubt it for primary as almost everyone uses the local primary schools as almost every primary (bar one I think) in ormskirk and aughton has an outstanding ofsted. For private secondaries, you may also want to look at scarisbrick hall or st Mary's for catholic.

The state secondaries in the area are all very good and are well liked by the parents.

Traffic does tend to take a lot longer. Expect an hour journey from ormskirk to liverpool centre during rush hour, maybe more,

Is your daughter going to Wirral girls school as that's a hell of a distance from ormskirk every day?

Scarisbrick Hall would be your local private school for Ormskirk really, although I know very little about it.

Look at Scarisbrick Hall School. I went there years ago and it looks like its going from strength to strength and would be good for children I think.

MrChris761 · 21/10/2019 04:49

I went to Scarisbrick Hall I think its a good place. My brother and sister went there too.

I know loads about Scarisbrick Hall. I'm suggesting it again as it would be much easier to get to and gas a very high reputation. My sister, brother and me all went there. It has wonderful acres of countryside within its grounds.
