Another reports question (sorry)

PFB DS1 just brought home his report today. Overall as I expected I guess, fairly generic with some very spot on personal stuff.

But there are no levels of emerging, exceeding etc. is this normal? How do I know if he's on track? No parent's eve this term....

Thanks

He's YR I'm assuming?
I don't think levels necessary have to be reported to the parents - could you go in and ask in the morning / phone up to set up a meeting?

well we had this last year and I was told on here and I found it recorded somewhere that schools do have to report on the levels to you as it is an end of stage (so similar to yr2 SATS and Yr6 SATS) but they don't have to do it in the form of saying emerging/expected/exceeding or the scores either. they can just give you the descriptors. I just said I would like to see how DD1 mapped onto the levels and the teacher showed me (her report didn't indicate at all that she was above expected levels but she was). This year, same school but DD2 was given her report and then a tick sheet with the emerging/expected/exceeding indicated for each level. I am not sure if others asked like me last year, if they just happened to feel it was easier to communicate it that way as it is clearer or if it was suggested they did it.

Wherearemyglasses yes he is YR. I don't want to be one of "those" parents & make a fuss but I am curious as to how he compares.

I have made a conscious decision to be very hands off this year & the school is very laid back about YR. But there is a little niggle / guilt that maybe I should be doing more with him as I want him to be the best he can....

Teacher was not there this am so will try tomorrow. Thanks for your replies.

I don't think requesting politely just to see how his achievements map on to the EYFS 17 areas is unreasonable and I don't think it would mark you out as an annoying parent. I actually think something like that would show a parent who is interested in their child's education and wants to be best placed to provide any support should it be needed.

but then I AM one of THOSE parents....

I'd focus more on the EYFS Reading and Writing and two numeracy ELGs. These are sometimes mapped to key stage levels for tracking on baseline entry into Year 1.
