Year 1 report - No levels or expected/exceeding etc

Is this normal? No levels or expected/exceeding or anything quantitative. Just lots of descriptive text under each heading saying what she can do, some of which was the same as in her reception report (different school) eg. 'She can count in 2s, 5s and 10s'. It's all fine but am wondering if this is the norm as how are the parents supposed to get a sense of where their child is in relation to what's expected?
Also instead of 'History' it says. 'Hertory' - what's that about!

Ooh, I can tell you what the Hertory is about. The writer did a search & replace turning "his" into "her".

I suppose you could ask if your child is about average/below/above.

Galena · 12/07/2014 08:26

I agree, Hertory is due to search and replace. I narrowly aboided that one year... Blush

As for nothing quantitative, there is no requirement for them to report anything at the end of y1 except the met/not met of the phonics check. If you wantbto know how dc is doing, you would need to ask.

IWantDogger · 12/07/2014 08:27

Ooh that's what DH thought! But would it change 'his' in the middle of a word ? Wouldn't all the 'this's become 'ther'?
If it is that's really annoying. I know there might need to be copying & pasting & use of stock phrases but somehow it's worse if it's so obvious!

But I can't work out if it's that or a feminist thing?!

We've had actual numbers at the two parents' evenings through the year, have you not?

IWantDogger · 12/07/2014 08:35

No actual numbers the whole year, no.
We did get the phonics test result which she passed and I can tell her reading has come on. I thought they were getting rid if the nc levels but that schools were developing their own system. Wondering if I should feed back that it would be helpful to have something quantitative but don't want to be a tricky parent.

We didn't get levels either but I did ask at the last parents evening. I'm still trying to decide if I'll ask for them now or if I'll relax and ask the new teacher in the Autumn meeting with the Year 2 teacher.

Yes, it does change them in the middle of words. The way to avoid it is to search for his and replace with her . Not learned that through bitter experience, nope, not me! Grin
