No NC Levels or Grades on Report

I received my daughters yr 5 school report on Friday and was confused to discover no grades or NC Levels on it. We have had them every other year but the teacher told us they have decided not to report them (without consulting the parents). I am aware that they will no longer obligatory from 2015 but how are we supposed to tell how well our children are doing?

Should I make a fuss about this, or am I just being an annoying parent?

I would hate not being told dc's grades.
The written part of his reports was always complimentary all through school and looked like he was achieving what he should. However it was the grade levels that made us realise that in reality he was struggling and lagging behind.

with extra support on the problem areas at home he's managed to achieve the required level at SATS this year.

As there are no official NC levels from September, maybe they decided not to bother this year.

FWIW not all school put NC levels on report bar the year groups where they have to, SATs years.

And DD's primary school didn't use NC levels at all, nor SATs. The children all still made progress each year though.

Did the teacher not include comments about how your DC were doing n each subject area?

We just got "she has progressed well in all her subjects and should be proud of her efforts" hardly in-depth analysis, and no way of knowing where she stands going into year 6. We also got a bunch of "is able to use place value correctly" type comments.

I know that we have a right to see any marks that are recorded for our children under the data protection act, but I don't want to go in guns blazing, I have another 8 years at the school (2 younger children to still go through the years)

Just not sure how to proceed.
