Reception teachers-would you like this as a present?

gel pens

Have contributed to a class present but wanted to get a little something just from dd as well as teacher has been wonderful.

She always marks the children's work in gel pens and I thought this would save her buying some next year. Or would they come out of class budget?

Dd will do handmade card too which I think is the most important bit.

Yr 1 teacher here! Those look fab, I would love them. The teachers gel pens would definitely come out if her own pocket so I bet she'd love those. Very thoughtful.

Oh good-will get them ordered. Thank you.
Any ideas for the TA? There hasn't been a class collection for her so would prob spend £5-10? Wine?

Sounds great!

I bought last year's teacher twenty pritt sticks and ten boxes of tissues and she was embarrassingly grateful. Gel pens is a fab idea. Get the TA a voucher from somewhere like M&S/John Lewis so she can choose what to spend it on, or even save it up to spend on presents at Christmas etc if she's on a tight budget.

Agree, that would be a lovely present although I kind of thought the point of a class present was that you then didn't get individual presents.

I'd have been FAR more chuffed by a thoughtful present like the pens (or the pritt sticks and tissues) than I would by some of the awful threads you get on here about collections totalling hundred pounds plus Shock

FinDeSemaine · 05/07/2014 08:27

I got an individual present as well as the class one (which definitely didn't total hundreds of pounds or even fifty pounds) because last year's teacher was so so so lovely to DD. She really deserved it.

They look nice. :) I'd like them!

What I like most though, and keep forever, are the genuine messages in cards of appreciation and thanks.

Generally, the Card Factory type tat, like "Best Teacher" picture frames are in the bin/charity shop within the week. Although we do appreciate the sentiment.

I gave DS1's teacher a present of three small succulents, potted in a nice china pot with a sticker on, showing DS1's face and his message to her. I hope she liked it, she of course looked like she did but who knows - is that an ok sort of present? Or a PITA? I chose succulents because they're easier to keep alive...

Back for good-the class collection was mainly as she's leaving at the end of term (still teaching reception so will still e able to use the pens!). I don't think they do them usually
