Hi,
I am moving to London. My office would be situated in Farringdon. Appreciate help with choosing good primary school for my 10 year old , would be joining year 6.
Also any help with where to rent would be highly appreciated.

How much do you have to spend on rent per month?

All depends on what your means are, whether you want to commute, do you want state primary schools or independent. If you want to live near Farringdon it will be very expensive.

Farringdon's on the Thameslink line so there's a vast choice of areas north and south in Greater London and beyond to choose from. Describe your budget and preference for the kind of area you want to live in, and what kind of secondary you'd be looking for too I guess.

Farringdon has great travel links - you can get their from nearly anywhere in greater London - all depends on how much of a commute you want. Depends how close in you want to be for the other activities in life.

I work in Farringdon and people in my office come in from Barnet, Harrow, Rayners Lane, Brixton, Herne Hill, Islington, Highbury, Teddington, Blackhealth, St Albans, Clapham, Brighton, Chislehurst, Wandsworth, Finsbury Park and somewhere in Cambridgeshire - to just name a few. Only the chap In Cambridgeshire has school age kids - but commutes for over an hour each way.

I think one of the property sites maybe Rightmove can allow you to do a search by commute distance now.
London is huge but also agree with a 10 year old I would be thinking more about secondary than primary.

Offer more info and maybe we can help - so what kind of budget etc if money is no object and you can afford private I would look at Islington if money is tight I would look at good commuting places in the South east which are on the Thames Link.

I would look at south east London if I were you- cheaper than most other areas generally, also pretty leafy

(I've been here all this century, so possibly biased!)

agree- it's really the secondaries you should be looking at first

Rightmove also handy for local schools, Ofsted links etc
