Where can I buy smaller sized uniforms?

DD starts nursery in September and needs a white blouse, grey skirt/pinafore and blue jumper/cardigan. She's 3 on 3rd of September and is quite petite, so far I've been to Asda and tesco and the smallest sizes they do are age 3-4 and they're huge on her. Does anyone know where I can buy smaller sizes? Thanks in advance.

It's a long time since I faced this problem as DD is now 14 but I had to buy her first uniform from Mothercare as they had tiny sizes in those days (not sure if they still do though)

Picturesinthefirelight · 08/06/2014 17:26

M&S S come up quite small. Adams used to if you see any 2nd hand stuff on ebay.

Matalan does an age 3 in school wear. Not sure how big/small it is, but I've always found their children's clothing to be on the small side.

Amazon?

They claim to have this in age 2-3. Maybe they would have the other items too.

CharlesRyder · 08/06/2014 17:58

Or a skirt.

Try online, for example, www.schooluniformshop.co.uk or www.schoolwearshops.co.uk. I gave up looking for small sizes on the high street!

CountingToThree · 08/06/2014 18:07

My Dd was small when started preschool - Sainsbury had the smallest 3-4yrs range that I could find

BikeRunSki · 08/06/2014 18:10

Gap online have some tiny school wear.

LIZS · 08/06/2014 18:11

mothercare, tesco

Jennifersrabbit · 08/06/2014 18:37

Same problem - we had cast offs from someone whose DD had worn age 3-4 and washed and shrunk them a bit!

bucketofbathtoys · 08/06/2014 18:38

My DD has loads of age 2-3 uniform when she started as a petite 3 last year. M &S and sainsburys both do it I am sure

Fixitagaintomorrow · 08/06/2014 19:16

Thank you everyone. When I put her name down for nursery I wasn't expecting her to start til next year with her birthday being after 1st September. Can anyone also recommend somewhere to buy some decent hard wearing school shoes?

Go to proper uniform shop if you are struggling. They cater for the pre prep market so have basics in small sizes. They won't be very expensive either - it's fancy logoed / naff hats etc the are really expensive!

HouseofEliot · 08/06/2014 19:32

Try proper school uniform shops. I managed to get an age 2 skirt when my Dd started playgroup.

Mine have always had clarks or occasionally startrite shoes. Only had a problem once where the strap broke but they changed them no problem. We go to an independent shoe shop. Mine don't grow much and shoes always last a whole year.

bucketofbathtoys · 08/06/2014 19:35

Check on line for M&S etc - most font have all their uniform in stores yet. My DD found the age 2-3 culottes really good but she also had skirt, trousers & pinafore

CharlesRyder · 08/06/2014 19:38

Clarks and Startrite have both taken a total beating here. Definitely get Velcro, DD will be expected to change her own shoes as soon as she can. For wellies to live at nursery we just use Brantano cheapies and they seem to have been fine.

Stikins are great for naming shoes and boots.

bucketofbathtoys · 08/06/2014 19:39

Just checked and M&s online have age 2-3 and free delivery

bucketofbathtoys · 08/06/2014 19:41

Sorry forgot to add that Clarks have been fine for shoes - I get at the outlet as cheaper. Had 2 pairs for the year as she out grew one pair - both loads of life in them

GoogleyEyes · 08/06/2014 19:41

My dd1 started school with small feet, and the best ones I found were the Pediped black ones (possibly Isabella?). They have insoles, so you get an extra half size out of them, and they go right down to toddler sizes. I got them from Happy Little Soles, who have great customer service, but other places do them, too.

Sirzy · 08/06/2014 19:42

I have found M and S best for short DS, his uniform from last september is still going to fit him next Septmember but it was the best fit I could find

Sirzy · 08/06/2014 19:43

and I found M and S shoes good for DS too, he is still on his same pair from Septmeber and they are as good as new

picnicbasketcase · 08/06/2014 19:46

I bought age 2-3 school trousers on eBay when dd started in nursery, 3-4 were too long on her.

TeenAndTween · 08/06/2014 20:19

Startrite shoes - available John Lewis and elsewhere.

ihearttc · 08/06/2014 20:24

Next stuff in age 3 is the same size as 2-3 years (i.e. up to 98cm).

M&S also do it in 2-3 but I found that absolutely massive.

DS2 is 3.5 and has a uniform for nursery. Trousers were £6 I think, shorts £5 and polo shirts were 2 for £5 and they have all washed really well.

He is tiny still...he is 3.5 and is still in 18-24 month shorts/jeans normally but the Next stuff fits him fine.

Galena · 08/06/2014 21:34

Sainsburys start at 2
