I hope it will not happen but what if they didn't do as well as they've expected? Confused

Give them a hug and tell them that this time next year no one will remember these results. SATS seem so important now, but they really don't matter. Better to get low targets for KS3 and surpass them than to get stupid high ones. Then buy large ice cream and send child off out to meet friends and be a child. In 5 years time exams really will count.

I think DD1 has forgotten all about them since she finished them TBH Grin! Do you know when the results come out?

The other day DS and I were trying to remember exactly what he got, and couldn't. He's 15, so it was a little while ago, but really they are completely unimportant.

I think DS got 5s for most of them except for a 4-something in one of the English papers. FWIW, he is expected to get A*s in both his English GCSEs this summer and was getting 100% in a lot of his mock papers.

It's ridiculous that schools hype them up so much that children and parents feel under pressure to do well, and they don't necessarily have any relevance to how children do later on.

So if your DC does not get the 4s/5s/6s they were expecting, just say, oh well, never mind, what shall we have for tea?

Sunsout:

We won't hear anything until July. So first priority should be to enjoy June.

Our situation is DD1 sat L6 papers and I have to say I don't entirely believe she's level 6 material across the board.

My hope is that she will get at least one Level 6 - for her sense of achievement. She's worked incredibly hard these last 4 years (largely at home) to make up a lot of ground (she finished KS1 at NC L1 across the board).

NC L4/ NC L5 given her KS1 SATs results will be a huge achievement and we will celebrate it.

I think just like the 11+ - the reality is that kids talk - and it is that sense of not doing as well as your friends which can really hurt.

For DD1 - she scored well enough on the 11+ to get into a King Edward grammar school here in Birmingham, but not high enough to go to the one's nearer us. It would mean 2 hours + of travel a day - which nobody was very thrilled about - so in the end she decided and we agreed that perhaps the local comprehensive, which is very good and just 5 minutes down the road, was the better option. It's been very hard to be happy for friends to be going to the grammar school she wanted to go to - heart breaking really - but she's congratulated them and been happy for their success and listened patiently as they've discussed attending welcome meetings, etc... I'm very proud of her for that, it can't have been easy.

Littlest bro is excited about them but is very competitive with middle bro who got 6's and middle sis who got 5's and 6's, so he will probably end up disappointed.

I'm taking him out the weekend after the results come out (as I have with all my siblings) so it will either be a well done trip or a cheer up trip.

When do the results come out? My DS appears to have completely forgotten the exams which I think is a good thing.
