Register ing for state schools doesn't make any difference. All registering means is that they have you on a list to contact regarding an open day or evening during the admissions round. It won't affect your chances of getting a place one jot.

It's probably quite different for private schools tho, but I don't know much about that.

Gessi, are you planning to go state or private?

(If state, no need to think about of this stuff yet. Just sit back and enjoy... If private, then you need to get your thinking hat on. )

Well, you'll be able to see which state school you are clllosest to by going on to your council website. I've no idea what private schools are good or not.

There are a few old threads on here about schools in Putney. If you do a search they should come up.
As mentioned you don't need to worry about Primary Schools.
Off the top of my head Private Schools in Putney include
Lion House, Merlin, Roche, Hurlingham, Prospect House and Putney High. (All co-ed except Putney High).

Sorry- should have read 'State primary schools'.

Houseisfallingdown has given you a good list. You won't need to register for Putney High because it is selective, so I think you just need to have made the decision re assessment by the October (I think) before she is due to start. The others that HIFD mentioned do need registering - they are all good but Merlin and Lion House only go to 7 or 8+ whilst the Roche, Hurlingham and Prospect House go to 11+ which is more obvious for a girl. The other options to look at are the Falcons for Girls which will be relocating to Putney from Ealing in September and Ibstock Place. I would go and look around them and register her for ones you think she and you would like.

State Primary Schools need to be considered, even though you don't need to register. If you are an active member of a church, that gives you more schools to consider.

Hope that helps

Hi, if you are thinking about state schools we've just had all the catchment area distances for this year's offers from the Council. Might help you work out what your realistic options are and whether you need to contemplate private or not.

You can see them over on our lovely local site here
