Transferring to full school

ok so if I want to transfer a child to a school that is currently full can anyone fill me in on what happens? Do schools keep waiting lists for all year groups? (I had assumed that was the case but the la info seems to assume the only reason for wanting to transfer is delinquent child or issues with child at school which is definitely not the case! )

The situ is I have major issues with the governance of the school (its in sm so it's not just me making up nonsense) and I want better for her.

You need to apeak to you local Authority and follow their guidelines. You will probably have to go on a the waiting list. But that won't solve you issues with the school your DD is at as you may not be able to move schools anytime soon.

So what will happen if you are told that you on the waiting list but it will be months, and not before the end of the year as it is only about 8/9weeks left. Will your DD continue at the school she is at or will you remove her and home school.

Will you need to re apply in August/September.

dd's teacher is fab and she is ok for now. I just can't find the policy online and was wondering if anyone had any experience. I've also heard rumours of our la giving incorrect information about places available.

and it reads that I would have to take a different school to go non the waiting list that can't be right surely?

Ours say they don't keep one for in-year admissions.

Do you know if the school you would like operates their own in-year admissions. It varies, it was the LA, but the responsibility went back to schools last September. However my school chose to keep it with the LA, so you would be directed to them.

RaspberryLemonPavlova · 17/05/2014 21:29

To be clear, its the LA that says they don't have to keep waiting lists.

Is your child KS1 or KS2? If you apply for a place and are refused you can appeal, but you would have much more chance of success at KS2.

she's reception atm. The schools I am considering btw age would have got into had I put them number 1, it's not a crazy situ where they have masses of people trying to get in but I suspect they are full ifyswim?

Why can't you ask them?

tobysmum77 · 17/05/2014 22:24

I will do, just seeing if anyone had any insight first Smile .
